EU-Japan seminar 9/6/16

This seminar will explain the recent policy developments and programmes to facilitate Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) cooperation between Europe and Japan. Three key Japanese research funding agencies will present various tools and programmes open to European researchers, companies and organisations. There will also be a presentation on the outcomes of the EU-funded JEUPISTE project.

Guest lecture on Japanese Philosophy and Religion

Prof. James Heisig will give a guest lecture on Japanese Philosophy and Religion, with special reference to the Kyoto School on 4th May, 2016. Place and time:  HIW, Room A, 2-4 pm.Professor Heisig is from the Nanzan Institute in Japan and he is very well known as a scholar of the Kyoto School, especially of Hajime Tanabe and Tanabe's important work, Philosophy as Metanoetics. He is the external examiner of the dissertation of Takeshi Morisato on 6 May, 11:00-13:00.

A PhD Research Fellowship in Japanese Studies is available at the Department of Culture Studies and Oriental Languages (IKOS), University of Oslo. IKOS seeks to recruit a PhD candidate with excellent research qualifications who will investigate issues of heritagisation in contemporary Japan. The successful applicant will address issues related to the project Sacred heritage? Secularisation, sacralisation and the production of heritage in contemporary Japan.
